How to send voice notes to AI characters

You can send a voice note to a character in Charms when speaking is easier than typing. The audio is your message to the character. Users cannot currently assign a voice to a character; this guide covers sending your own voice notes.

Open a character chat and decide what you want to say. A short message with one topic is easier to follow than several unrelated questions. Record in a quiet place and avoid including private information you do not need to share.

Record and send your voice note
Find the microphone or voice-note control in the chat. Allow microphone access when prompted, record your message and use the available controls to stop or send it. Check that the message has been sent before recording it again. You can continue by text whenever that is more convenient.
Check microphone permissions if recording fails
Check whether the browser or app has permission to use the microphone. Make sure the device has a working microphone and another application is not using it. Try again after resolving the issue, or send the same question by text. Avoid repeated sends until you know whether the first message succeeded.
Try a short voice note
Record: “I want an idea for a small weekend project. Can you suggest one simple option?” Send it, read the reply and clarify one detail by text if needed.
Clarify names and details by text
For an exact name, a correction or a structured request, text may be easier to use. If the character misunderstands an important detail in your message, write a short correction and continue the conversation. Sending a voice note does not mean that the character will reply with audio.
